Network of Maharashtra People living with HIV (NMP+) is a community-based organization working since 2001 to uphold the rights, dignity, and wellbeing of people living with HIV (PLHIV) and marginalised community across India. With a strong grassroots presence and a network of district-level support systems, NMP+ supports for access to stigma free healthcare, social protection, and livelihood opportunities. The organization works in close collaboration with grassroot level CBO’s, government agencies, civil society organisations, and international partners to implement impactful programs focused on treatment literacy, gender equity, sexual and mental health, and adolescent empowerment, especially among marginalized communities.

Job Description

NMP+ under EpiC India grant is implementing life-saving activities for HIV care and treatment under GHSD guidance supported by United States Department of State (DoS). The treatment navigators- NCD located in the Pune,Thane and Alibag will be placed in selected ART centers managed by Maharashtra State AIDS Control Society and respective District AIDS Prevention and Control Units (DAPCUs). They will be responsible for below-mentioned activities in coordination with ARTC staff. They will be directly reporting to Program Manager NCD in NMP+, based in Pune.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure deliverables of the approved site-wise activities and targets screening of NCD are achieved with support of facility staff and technical input from Technical Advisor-HIV in Maharashtra.
  • Coordinate with ART Centers (ARTCs) for implementing the service delivery improvement activities related to screening for NCD among eligible PLHIV clients.
  • Support ART center staff in screening PLHIV who are more than 40 years for NCDs (diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular health, mental health and cancer) and link those who need further services with respective departments in the same facility or linking them to the facilities where they can receive required services.
  • Support the roll-out of the NCD self-care literacy materials in the ART centers through patient literacy sessions by delivering self-care messages tailored to the needs of PLHIV, promoting positive health-seeking behaviors, treatment adherence, and mental well-being
  • Facilitate the ART Center staff in demand generation activities
  • Support the ART center staff in data recording, tracking clients for follow-up and sharing the analysis monthly with the center staff.
  • Ensure all compliances related to data both from MSACS/NACO and DoS.
  • Ensure that the data confidentiality and data sharing norms are practiced. Online reporting mechanism is used to maintain the required information for NCD related activities.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Preference will be given to the candidates from Social work background.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in working with PLHIV clients is mandatory.
  • Knowledge about challenges faced by people living with HIV is preferred.
  • Knowledge about the functioning of ARTCs, ICTCs and CSC partners is required.
  • Working knowledge of online data entry, SMS and WhatsApp based communication is preferred.
  • People living with HIV and women candidates fulfilling above criteria will be preferred.
  • Preferably excellent in oral and written communication skills in English, Marathi and Hindi.
  • Self-motivated and committed individuals to support PLHIV and their partners, who can influence PLHIV individuals to take care of their health and lead a quality life.
  • Having two wheeler and own laptop is highly preferable.

Job Description

The youth mobilisers located in the Pune and Thane will be placed in selected ART centers managed by Maharashtra State AIDS Control Society and respective District AIDS Prevention and Control Units (DAPCUs). They will be responsible for the below-mentioned activities working in close coordination with ARTC and Integrated Counselling and Testing Center (ICTC) staff to implement youth-friendly HIV services. They will be directly reporting to Program Manager NCD at NMP+.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure deliverables of the approved site-wise activities and targets for index testing, treatment and viral load outcomes among youth living with HIV (18-24 years) are achieved with support of facility staff, NMP+ management team and technical inputs from Technical Advisor-HIV in Maharashtra.
  • Use Social Network Strategies (SNS), including the Enhanced Peer Outreach Approach (EPOA), to effectively reach at-risk and hard to reach youth for HIV testing
  • Provide peer-led support and youth-friendly counselling to accelerate early and sustained ART initiation to those who have not yet started treatment.
  • Provide youth-friendly counselling for index testing for sexual and social network partners of YLHIV.
  • Conduct tailored treatment literacy sessions to empower YLHIV with the knowledge and confidence to begin or resume treatment.
  • Coordinate with ARTC staff to identify YLHIV who exhibit poor adherence or are virally unsuppressed, and provide youth-friendly adherence counselling, including support during repeat viral load testing to improve health outcomes.
  • Actively support and facilitate youth-focused initiatives implemented by the MSACS and DAPCUs e.g., conducting weekly youth sessions at the ART centers being planned by MSACS, mobilizing youth for CBS screening camps, collaborating with educational institutions to raise awareness about high-risk behaviour and HIV among young people
  • Active virtual engagement through social media platforms to promote ART initiation, share motivational testimonials and success stories, and disseminate information about upcoming youth-related events and services.
  • Ensure feedback of index clients and their contacts is collected to improve the quality of index testing services at the site.
  • Ensure all newly initiated and currently active on treatment YLHIV are supported to improve their skills to cope with stigma and discrimination, improve their knowledge about the treatment benefits including personalized routine for regular pill intake.
  • Ensure all compliances related to data both from MSACS/NACO and DoS.
  • Ensure that the data confidentiality and data sharing norms are practiced. Online reporting mechanism is used to maintain the required information for index testing and treatment related activities.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • 12th degree is required, preferably aged 20-26 years.
  • Preferably Youth living with HIV, minimum of 1-2 years of experience in working with PLHIV clients.
  • Knowledge about challenges faced by young people living with HIV is preferred.
  • Knowledge about the functioning of ARTCs, ICTCs, CSC and private HIV treating partners is required.
  • Working knowledge of online data entry, SMS and WhatsApp based communication is preferred.
